PCMangler EX is a sample workbench. You load one sound, build a chain of small processing modules that turn it into something a vintage sampler, a game console, a telephone or an invented machine might have produced, hear the result, and export an ordinary WAV. The exact same chain can then process a whole folder of sounds.

A five-minute tour

1. Open a sound. Choose File → Open WAV, click the folder button in the Sample panel, or drag a .wav file onto the window. The waveform appears on the left.
2. Pick a machine. In the Browser panel, choose a Rack from Factory, for example 8-bit Desktop PCM or Handheld PCM. Its modules appear in the middle as small handheld units.
3. Listen. Press PLAY under the Output Preview. Press A to hear the original and B to hear the processed sound, or use A>B to hear them back to back.
4. Change something. Drag a knob, click a unit's ON button to bypass it, drag units to reorder them, or open the Modules tab and double-click a module to add it. The preview re-renders as you work.
5. Export. Set the output rate and bit depth in the bottom bar and press EXPORT WAV. Your original file is never modified.

What you need

• Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
• An audio output device to listen through. You can still export without one.
• WAV files to work on: mono or stereo, 8, 16, 24 or 32-bit integer, or 32-bit float.

PCMangler EX does not need an account or an internet connection.
